The death toll in Haiti’s cholera epidemichas approached 1,000. Aid groups rushed soap and clean water to Haitian to fight the disease. Data released on Friday showed that 917 people died and over 14,600 were hospitalized with cholera-like symptoms. Artibonite, accounting for approximately two-thirds of the deaths, is just one of 6 provinces where the disease has been found.


 



According to several epidemiologists, it is likely that the disease will worsen and break out in Haiti’s other regions.


 


 


Aung San Suu Kyi, 65, was released on Saturday evening after 18-month imprisonment. The release of the leader of the “dissolved” National League for Democracy came six days after Myanmarheld a general election on November 7. She had been detained off and on for a total of 15 years. The first time for almost six years until July 10, 1995 was due to “endangering security of the state”. The fourth time from May 2009 to date was for “Yettaw Incident”.

British yacht couple, Paul and Rachel Chandler from Tunbridge Wells in Kent, was released by the Somali pirates after more than a year in captivity. They were held in captivity since October 23, 2009. Both of them are in good spirits despite being exhausted by their experience.


 



The couple’s sudden release followed months of fraught negotiations.
